Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – Sept. 27, 2022 . . . With testing already started for next year’s BMW M Hybrid V8 GTP class contender, BMW M Team RLL will return its focus on the final race for the BMW M4 GT3 at this Saturday’s MOTUL Petit Le Mans.
The final endurance race of the year at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is always a season highlight and this year is looking to be especially exciting with the increasing potential of a hurricane heading North from the Gulf of Mexico and the return of Jesse Krohn to the driver lineup. Jesse last raced with BMW M Team RLL at Petit last year, putting the BMW M8 GTE on the pole. The Finnish racer spent four seasons with BMW Team M RLL, 2018 – 2021, co-driving to 15 podium finishes, including the 2020 Rolex 24 At Daytona victory.
Season-long drivers Connor De Phillippi and John Edwards currently stand fifth in GTD PRO driver points. The duo scored a season’s-best third-place finish at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Connor De Phillippi (No. 25 MOTUL BMW M4 GT3): “Petit Le Mans is always one of my top three events for the year and the track itself is one of my favorites. Quite a few of the teams have tested there in the last weeks and I’m confident that our M4 GT3 will be up to the task to fight for a win when the checkered flag flies on Saturday evening. Only thing we need is a smooth weekend and I know we can get a great result for BMW Team RLL.”
John Edwards (No. 25 MOTUL BMW M4 GT3): “Road Atlanta has been good to me with quite a few podiums, but I am still missing that elusive Petit Le Mans victory. Our BMWs have always been fast there and I have no doubt that the M4 GT3 will be the same. Petit is a very intense event, especially with a nighttime finish that always leads to some frantic battles.”
Jesse Krohn (No. 25 MOTUL BMW M4 GT3): “I am super happy to return to the U.S. and Petit Le Mans. I truly enjoy Road Atlanta. Originally, I was not scheduled to join the team, but when the call came, I said yes right away. I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends and hopefully helping to contribute to another BMW M Team RLL victory.”
The MOTUL Petit Le Mans weekend begins with practice on Thursday, Sept. 29. Qualifying takes place Friday, with the green flag waving Saturday at 12:10 p.m.
Live coverage is available through a combination of NBC network, USA Network and Peacock. IMSA Radio also provides flag-to-flag broadcast.
