MINI Selects Crispin Porter Bogusky as Brand Advocacy Partner
Tue Feb 13 12:00:00 CET 2001 Press Release
MINI announced today the selection of Crispin Porter Bogusky, Miami, as its Brand Advocacy Partner. Crispin Porter Bogusky's role will be to support the launch and on-going development of the overall MINI brand experience in the US market.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ, February 13, 2001...MINI announced today the selection of
Crispin Porter Bogusky, Miami, as its Brand Advocacy Partner. Crispin Porter
Bogusky's role will be to support the launch and on-going development of the
overall MINI brand experience in the US market. After an extensive search,
Crispin Porter Bogusky was selected for its strength of vision for the MINI
brand experience and clear focus on the unique position MINI will own in the
automotive marketplace.
MINI is an icon in Europe and for over 40 years the name has been synonymous
with exciting small cars with sales of over 5 million. In the US, MINI is less
well known, not being sold since 1967. However, such is the strength of the
brand that MINI devotees keep 12,000 classic Mini's on the road throughout the
US to this day.
Now backed by the BMW Group, a series of all-new MINIs will be launched from
March 2002. Launching the MINI brand in the US presents a unique challenge and
opportunity and both MINI and CPB believe there is a growing market for cars
that deliver MINI's legendary driving abilities within a strikingly distinctive
package. In fact MINI will open up a new segment in the US as no other
manufacturer will offer cars that look or drive like the MINI COOPER and MINI
COOPER 'S', (The COOPER name comes from the famous race-winning MINIs of the
1960s, engineered by race car designer, the late John Cooper, Commander of the
British Empire). Size, shape, design and engineering mean that from launch,
MINI COOPER, and the even more potent MINI COOPER 'S' will occupy unique
positions in the US marketplace; that of the small, fun, yet very grown-up
driving car.
Kerri Martin, marketing communications manager for MINI said, "This is a
momentous time for us and the MINI brand. We are not just launching a new car
but a new sector and virtually a new brand. We are working flat out to ready
the US for MINI and are thrilled to have Crispin Porter Bogusky along on the
ride with us. They have demonstrated an understanding that owning a MINI will
be like no other motoring experience--full of inherent excitement and product
depth. Crispin Porter Bogusky's expertise and insights will support all of our
strategic planning and creative media content development and distribution, and
in conjunction with Circle.com, C P & B will also develop and manage customer
relationship management programs and our on-line activities, all part of the
worldwide MINI idea pool."
Jeff Hicks, president of Crispin Porter Bogusky said "We are naturally thrilled
to have secured one of the prize accounts in the automotive field or anywhere
else for that matter. MINI is a brand with a unique position, tremendous
substance and a distinguished heritage. The new MINI COOPER and COOPER S are
exciting driver's cars with great design, engineering and real soul. This
unique combination of brand and product is a wonderful platform for us to apply
our creativity and strategic thinking,"
MINI is a brand of the BMW Group which includes BMW and Rolls Royce (from
2003). The MINI COOPER and MINI COOPER S will be on sale in the US from March
2002. MINI will be sold through approximately 70 dealers from BMW Group's US
network and will have its own distinct retail environment with dedicated sales
staff. Prices for MINI COOPER will start below $18,000.
