Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, March 29, 2000...In the world of luxury cars, the
BMW 7 Series continues as a unique concept that stands head and shoulders above
all the rest. Repeatedly, these magnificent luxury sedans with sporting
performance and handling win awards that demonstrate their superb combination
of rational attributes and emotional appeal.

For example, in J.D. Power & Associates' 1999 APEAL study - a survey of how
automobile and truck owners feel about their vehicles' Automotive Performance,
Execution And Layout attributes - once again the BMW 7 Series led the Premium
Luxury class with 853 points, topping the Series' nearest competitor by a
substantial margin. According to J.D. Power, the APEAL study measures what
excites and delights about a vehicle, quantifying the intangibles that form the
relationship between vehicle and owner. Specifically, the study analyzes such
areas as design, engine and transmission performance, comfort and convenience,
ride and handling, seats, heating/cooling/ventilation, cockpit layout,
instrument panel and sound system.

Another award recently accorded the 7 Series is The Polk Company's fourth
annual Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards in the Prestige Luxury Car category.
During the 1999 model year, fully 26.9% of those who leased or purchased a new
7 Series model were existing owners who were so pleased with their car that
they decided to acquire another one. This is 8.5% higher than the average in
this category, and nearly 3.5% more than BMW's nearest competitor.

Kudos have been forthcoming of late from the enthusiast publishing sector too.
A November '99 comparison test by Car and Driver pitted the 740iL against its
four most illustrious competitors, one with a facelift and new
5-valve-per-cylinder engine for 2000, another all-new. The verdict: 740iL in
1st place, the 5-valve competitor in 3rd, the all-new model in 4th. Of the
740iL, equipped with 18-in. wheels and tires 1 for the test, the magazine
noted: "Feels in touch with the road, makes powerful sounds, driver's seat does
good tricks." The magazine concluded by crediting the long-wheelbase BMW with
"extravagant leg room in back."

To anyone who drives a 7 Series, the appeal of these magnificent sedans derives
not just from their quality and luxury, but also from their inimitable
performance and active driving pleasure. BMW's long-standing tradition of
cultivating The Joy of Driving applies to these large, luxurious automobiles
just as it does to more overtly sporty BMWs like the M5 and Z8.

For 2001, once again the Series includes two "regular" V8 models -
standard-wheelbase 740i, long-wheelbase 740iL and the also long-wheelbase
750iL, still the only V12 engine available in a luxury sedan. Further, there
are two light-armored vehicles, the 740iL and 750iL Protection models,
addressing a market need served directly by no other major motor-vehicle
manufacturer.
