Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, December 5, 2002... BMW of North America, LLC, the
importer and distributor of BMW motorcycles in the United States, has just made
owning a premium motorcycle more affordable with the introduction of the
Certified Pre-Owned BMW Motorcycle Program.
"We want to offer value-conscious motorcycle buyers the same opportunities that
we offer value-conscious automobile shoppers," commented Thomas J. Plucinsky,
General Manager for BMW of North America, Motorcycles. "Judging from the
success of BMW's Certified Pre-Owned Automobile Program, we think the time is
at hand to offer more motorcyclists the opportunity to purchase a premium
motorcycle with the latest safety and technological features at an affordable
price."
The Certified Pre-Owned BMW Motorcycle Program comprises two elements: The
Certified Pre-Owned BMW Motorcycle Limited Protection Plan and BMW Roadside
Assistance. The Protection Plan, which commences upon the expiration of the
BMW New Motorcycle Limited Warranty of three years or 36,000 (whichever comes
first), provides additional protection for up to two years or 24,000 miles from
the effective date. It affords protection against defects in material and
workmanship of all mechanical and electrical operating parts and assemblies on
an eligible BMW motorcycle that has been properly enrolled, inspected and
retailed by an authorized BMW motorcycle retailer on or after November 1, 2002,
except those parts, assemblies and conditions that are specifically excluded in
the "What's not covered" section in the Operations Guide Manual.
"Participating authorized BMW Motorcycle retailers will offer dedicated space
for the display of certified pre-owned motorcycles," said Plucinsky. "The
Certified Pre-Owned BMW Motorcycle Program provides the tools necessary for
retailers to expand their used-motorcycle sales business and bring additional
revenue to their Service and Parts operations. For consumers, this program is
all about making dreams come true for a wide-open market of riders who are
eager to own a BMW motorcycle," he added.
