by 20mm to 4,546mm, while the wheelbase measures 2,670mm. The width is
1,800mm and the height has increased by 25mm to 1,445mm. The BMW 2
Series Gran Coupé makes good use of these dimensions, offering
generous space for up to five occupants and their luggage.
BMW radiator grille with optional contour lighting.
The wide BMW radiator grille and a large, black lower
air inlet give the front of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé a sporty
look further highlighted by vertical side openings. The headlights
protrude well into the side sections. Two arrow-shaped LED units take

wheelbase and recessed passenger compartment create hallmark BMW
proportions, while the roofline flows smoothly into the rear. An
indentation in the shoulder gives the rear an athletic appearance,
while the remodelled side sills add a dynamic accent. At the rear of
the side window graphic, a discreetly embossed number 2 highlights the
characteristic Hofmeister kink.
Powerful rear end with new surface structure and striking
lights.
A generous surface broken up by a series of
lines gives the rear of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé a powerful
look. The rear apron is finished in high-gloss black. On the BMW 220 M
Sport Gran Coupé, the tailpipes are invisible. A fresh accent is
provided by the rear lights, whose contours feature an indentation in
the lower section. Vertically aligned LED elements echo the design of
the headlights.
The new BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé.
With its M specific character, the new BMW M235 xDrive Gran

system which features an output of 205 watts and comprises 12
speakers, integrated behind stainless steel panels (depending on their
position) and an illuminated logo.
Extensive exterior customisation.
There is a
choice of one solid paint finish and six metallic finishes for the BMW
2 Series Gran Coupé body, with a wide variety of BMW Individual
finishes also on offer. A contrasting finish for the roof in
high-gloss black is available as an additional option. The optional M
Sport Pro pack also adds extended M High-gloss Shadow Line elements
such as the BMW Kidney Grille, an M rear spoiler and M Sport brakes
with a red high-gloss finish, as well as further interior content and
for the M235 xDrive also the M Sport seat.
BMW 220 Gran Coupé with the latest BMW TwinPower technology.
The latest version of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is
key to the new BMW 220 Gran Coupé’s impressive performance, fuel
economy and emission levels. The 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine
uses the Miller combustion process with shorter inlet valve opening
times, redesigned intake pipes and combustion chambers, an ignition
system with an active coil and integrated electronics, and dual
injection to optimise carburation.
The powertrain generates 170
hp (156 hp from the combustion engine, 20 hp from the electric motor)
and 280 Nm (240 Nm plus 55 Nm). As a result, the BMW 220 Gran Coupé
accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 143 mph.
Its efficient drive achieves combined fuel economy of 51.4-53.3 mpg
and 129-120 g/km of CO2 (WLTP).
48-volt mild hybrid technology for increased spontaneity and
efficiency.
The engine powering the new BMW 220 Gran
Coupé features 48-volt mild hybrid technology. An electric motor
integrated in the 7-speed Steptronic transmission takes on the
function of the starter generator, developing 20 hp and 55 Nm. The
motor can assist the combustion engine to increase efficiency, or
deliver additional power for starting off and acceleration. The energy
required is stored in a 48-volt battery located under the luggage
compartment, charged during braking by adaptive recuperation of up to
15 kW.
BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé: 300 hp and 0-62 mph in 4.9
seconds.
M TwinPower Turbo technology gives the new BMW
M235 xDrive Gran Coupé a maximum output of 300 hp, enabling it to
accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds. It features numerous
innovations in the combustion process, the design of the intake pipes,
combustion chambers, camshaft control, injection, ignition system and
exhaust gas routing. M specific features include a particularly robust
crank drive, optimised oil supply for the piston cooling channel and
new main bearing shells and covers. The M TwinPower Turbo technology
includes a power increase for the turbocharging system and charge air
cooling as well as dual injection. The 2.0-litre engine achieves its
maximum output between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm, with torque of 400 Nm
available between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm.
The BMW xDrive all-wheel
drive system ensures variable distribution of drive torque between the
front and rear axles. In combination with the mechanical differential
lock for the front wheels, it ensures excellent traction and cornering dynamics.
New 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as
standard.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is fitted as
standard with an advanced 7-speed double clutch Steptronic
transmission, enabling fast gear changes and a high level of shift
comfort. Improvements include all-electric actuation, a wider spread
of gears and increased efficiency.
The M Leather steering wheel
(220 M Sport) and M Steering wheel (M235) both include shift paddles
for manual gear selection. The left-hand paddle can also be used to
activate the M Sport Boost function for dynamic acceleration.
Optimised balance between dynamics and ride
comfort.
Agility, steering precision and cornering
dynamics are enhanced by the increased rigidity of the body structure
and chassis connection. In addition, new shock absorber technology
improves ride comfort by reducing rolling movements during dynamic cornering.
Front and rear axle with newly developed
components.
Both the strut-type front axle and the
modular three-link rear axle have been extensively revised and fitted
with new components to optimise rigidity and weight. Highly preloaded
anti-roll bar mounts improve body support in bends and increase
comfort, while new wheel bearings increase steering precision. The
model-specific rear axle also features a high level of rigidity.
Combined with a rigidly connected rear axle support, this enables
precise wheel guidance with high lateral acceleration. Ride comfort
has been enhanced by a new suspension and damping system. The
stroke-dependent damping on the front axle uses an additional sleeve
on the shock absorber to stabilise the body for a superior experience.
Adaptive M suspension as standard.
As standard,
the adaptive M suspension enhances both agility and long-distance
comfort by means of variable, mechanically controlled and
frequency-selective shock absorbers. Pressure peaks within the shock
absorbers are smoothed out by valves acting on the traction side.
Directly controlled wheel slip limitation and integrated
braking system.
The actuator-based wheel slip
limitation in the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé ensures optimised
traction and superior stability. The system integrates traction
control directly in the engine control system, making interventions up
to ten times faster than conventional systems and enabling more
precise control.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé also features an
integrated braking system that combines brake actuation, brake
boosting and brake control of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) in a
single compact module. The required braking pressure is released
quickly and precisely by means of an electric actuator. Four-piston
fixed calipers on the front axle and single-piston floating calipers
on the rear axle have either a blue or a red finish.
The new BMW
2 Series Gran Coupé is fitted with 18-inch M light alloy wheels as
standard. Other 18- and 19-inch light alloy wheels are also available.
Driving Assistant including front collision warning as
standard.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé offers a
comprehensive safety package as standard with the Driving Assistant.
The advanced front-collision warning also includes pedestrian and
cyclist warning with brake function as well as Crossroads Warning.
When turning, it registers pedestrians and cyclists approaching
parallel to the road, and can warn of vehicles approaching on the
opposite carriageway and even apply the brakes. The Driving Assistant
also includes cruise control with braking function, manual Speed Limit
Assist, Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking indicator and
anticipation, emergency steering intervention, Lane Departure Warning
with lane return, rear collision warning and exit warning.
Driving Assistant Plus and Driving Assistant Professional.
Increased comfort on long trips is provided by the
optional Driving Assistant Plus, with Steering and Lane Control
Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, which
can be used at speeds of up to 112 mph and can even slow the new BMW 2
Series Gran Coupé to a standstill if necessary. Speed Limit Assist
takes account of speed limits registered by Speed Limit Info or by the
navigation data. When approaching bends, roundabouts, junctions, exits
and before reaching a built-up area, route speed control ensures that
the speed is reduced to suit the situation.
With the optional
Driving Assistant Professional, the Steering and Lane Control
Assistant and Active Cruise Control can be used at speeds of up to 130
mph. On motorways, the Steering and Lane Control Assistant also helps
the driver to stay on course in bottleneck situations. The Lane Change
Assistant and Active Navigation Guidance functions adapt both cruise
control and lane control assistant to the current situation. Driving
Assistant Professional also includes Lane Departure Warning with
Active Side Collision Protection, Road Priority Warning, Wrong-way
