The optional M Sport Pro pack also adds extended M High-gloss Shadow Line elements such as the BMW Kidney Grille, an M rear spoiler and M Sport brakes with a red high-gloss finish, as well as further interior content and for the M235 xDrive also the M Sport seat.

BMW 220 Gran Coupé with the latest BMW TwinPower technology.
The latest version of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is key to the new BMW 220 Gran Coupé’s impressive performance, fuel economy and emission levels. The 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine uses the Miller combustion process with shorter inlet valve opening times, redesigned intake pipes and combustion chambers, an ignition system with an active coil and integrated electronics, and dual injection to optimise carburation.
The powertrain generates 170 hp (156 hp from the combustion engine, 20 hp from the electric motor) and 280 Nm (240 Nm plus 55 Nm). As a result, the BMW 220 Gran Coupé accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 143 mph. Its efficient drive achieves combined fuel economy of 51.4-53.3 mpg and 129-120 g/km of CO2 (WLTP).

48-volt mild hybrid technology for increased spontaneity and efficiency.
The engine powering the new BMW 220 Gran Coupé features 48-volt mild hybrid technology. An electric motor integrated in the 7-speed Steptronic transmission takes on the function of the starter generator, developing 20 hp and 55 Nm. The motor can assist the combustion engine to increase efficiency, or deliver additional power for starting off and acceleration. The energy required is stored in a 48-volt battery located under the luggage compartment, charged during braking by adaptive recuperation of up to 15 kW.

BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé: 300 hp and 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds.
M TwinPower Turbo technology gives the new BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé a maximum output of 300 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds. It features numerous innovations in the combustion process, the design of the intake pipes, combustion chambers, camshaft control, injection, ignition system and exhaust gas routing. The 2.0-litre engine achieves its maximum output between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm, with torque of 400 Nm available between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm.
The BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system ensures variable distribution of drive torque between the front and rear axles. In combination with the mechanical differential lock for the front wheels, it ensures excellent traction and cornering dynamics.

New 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is fitted as standard with an advanced 7-speed double clutch Steptronic transmission, enabling fast gear changes and a high level of shift comfort. Improvements include all-electric actuation, a wider spread of gears and increased efficiency.
The M Leather steering wheel (220 M Sport) and M Steering wheel (M235) both include shift paddles for manual gear selection. The left-hand paddle can also be used to activate the M Sport Boost function for dynamic acceleration.

Optimised balance between dynamics and ride comfort.
Agility, steering precision and cornering dynamics are enhanced by the increased rigidity of the body structure and chassis connection. In addition, new shock absorber technology improves ride comfort by reducing rolling movements during dynamic cornering.

Front and rear axle with newly developed components.
Both the strut-type front axle and the modular three-link rear axle have been extensively revised and fitted with new components to optimise rigidity and weight. Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts improve body support in bends and increase comfort, while new wheel bearings increase steering precision. The model-specific rear axle also features a high level of rigidity. Combined with a rigidly connected rear axle support, this enables precise wheel guidance with high lateral acceleration. Ride comfort has been enhanced by a new suspension and damping system. The stroke-dependent damping on the front axle uses an additional sleeve on the shock absorber to stabilise the body for a superior experience.

Adaptive M suspension as standard.
As standard, the adaptive M suspension enhances both agility and long-distance comfort by means of variable, mechanically controlled and frequency-selective shock absorbers. Pressure peaks within the shock absorbers are smoothed out by valves acting on the traction side.

Directly controlled wheel slip limitation and integrated braking system.
The actuator-based wheel slip limitation in the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé ensures optimised traction and superior stability. The system integrates traction control directly in the engine control system, making interventions up to ten times faster than conventional systems and enabling more precise control.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé also features an integrated braking system that combines brake actuation, brake boosting and brake control of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) in a single compact module. The required braking pressure is released quickly and precisely by means of an electric actuator. Four-piston fixed calipers on the front axle and single-piston floating calipers on the rear axle have either a blue or a red finish.
The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is fitted with 18-inch M light alloy wheels as standard. Other 18- and 19-inch light alloy wheels are also available.

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
