Another new chapter has opened in the regeneration of the MINI model family, with the launch of the new MINI Clubman.
Following the success of the re-energised MINI 3-door Hatch and the successful launch of the MINI 5-door Hatch, the new model offers customers a premium vehicle featuring the highest level of ride refinement ever seen in a MINI.
The car’s much-loved signature design feature – its split rear doors – are retained, while accessibility and everyday usability are further enhanced thanks to four full-sized side doors. The resulting car is a powerful fusion of sleek lines, innovative touches and first-rate materials with generous space for five occupants, excellent luggage capacity and classic MINI driving characteristics.
With a more mature and sophisticated design, the new MINI Clubman’s dimensions are larger than those of the previous generation MINI Clubman. It’s also 270 mm longer and 73 mm wider than the MINI 5-door Hatch, with a wheelbase which is 100 mm larger. The boot has a volume of 360 litres, which can be extended to 1,250 litres by folding the rear seats flat.
The latest generation of MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology engines have been installed under the bonnet, with four units available from launch – the MINI Cooper Clubman, MINI Cooper D Clubman, MINI Cooper S Clubman and MINI Cooper SD Clubman. CO2 emissions are as low as 109g/km, with fuel economy of up to 68.9mpg.
New to the MINI brand is an 8-speed Steptronic transmission, available as an option on the MINI Cooper S Clubman, the MINI Cooper D Clubman and the MINI Cooper SD Clubman. Exceptional handling comes courtesy of a suspension set-up which is unique to the new MINI Clubman.
Numerous features make their MINI brand debut on the new Clubman, including an electric parking brake, full electric seat adjustment and the optional MINI Yours Interior Styles with backlit door bezels.
The new MINI Clubman includes MINI’s highly acclaimed Navigation System as standard on all models, exemplifying the high levels of standard equipment across the range. Furthermore, every MINI Clubman also benefits from the MINI Excitement Package as standard, which features a projection of the brand logo on to the ground beneath the driver’s side door mirror when the car is opened and closed, as well as extended interior lighting.
Pricing for the newest member of the MINI family starts at £19,995 OTR for the MINI Cooper Clubman. Full range pricing and variant information is available below.

Exterior design: distinctive proportions with typical brand flair
The new MINI Clubman showcases a contemporary reinterpretation
of its predecessor’s design, combining sporting style with
outstanding functionality. The car’s silhouette, with its extended
roof line and steeply angled rear, remains an obvious link to the
Clubman’s heritage, both recent and historic.
The newcomer has an overall length of 4,253 mm, width of 1,800
mm and a height of 1,441 mm. The wheelbase measures 2,670 mm, while
the track width is 1,564 mm at the front and 1,565 mm at the rear.
Unmistakably a MINI, the Clubman’s characterful exterior
styling brings a new sophistication to the model. The front end is
defined by circular headlamps with chrome surrounds, the hexagonal
contours of the radiator grille and the sculpted ‘power dome’ of the
bonnet. The wide lower air inlet highlights the car’s solid and
purposeful stance, with the bumper trim serving as a number plate
carrier and finished in high-gloss black. On the MINI Cooper Clubman
and MINI Cooper D Clubman, the section of the radiator grille above
this is subdivided by three gloss black ribs. On the MINI Cooper S
Clubman and the MINI Cooper SD Clubman it has a chrome rib bearing a
red ‘S’ logo set in a chrome surround.
Arched turn indicators are positioned in the lower section of
the headlamps. In standard form, both the daytime running light and
parking light are generated by additional units integrated into the
front apron. The optional fog lamps are also positioned here. LED
headlamps are available as an optional extra, surrounded by an LED
daylight driving ring.
In profile, the MINI Clubman’s distinctive silhouette and
elegant lines are most obvious. The bottom edge of the body features
a black surround, while a new design has been created for the side
scuttles. On the MINI Cooper Clubman and MINI Cooper D Clubman these
are finished in matt and high-gloss black, while on the MINI Cooper
S Clubman and MINI Cooper SD Clubman they’re chrome with the
trademark ‘S’ logo.
The MINI Clubman’s distinctive split rear doors, side-hinged
on the outer edge, mark it out from any other car on the road. The
doors are opened by a dual-section chrome door handle. Non-contact
opening is possible in combination with the optional Comfort Access
function, with a foot movement under the rear apron triggering
operation, or from a button on vehicle’s key fob.
Four non-metallic and eight metallic paint finishes are
available for the body of the MINI Clubman at launch. These include
Melting Silver metallic and Pure Burgundy metallic for the first
time, as well as the MINI Yours paint Lapisluxury Blue. The roof and
exterior mirror caps can be finished in a contrasting colour –
white, black or new and exclusive to MINI Clubman, silver – as a
no-cost option.
Generous interior space and a stunning new cabin design
The four full-sized doors improve access to the cabin of the new
MINI Clubman, which is truly premium in nature and a clear signal of
the car’s sophisticated personality.
A comprehensive reworking of the familiar MINI concept creates
generous passenger space for five occupants, and ensures a unique
and cohesive design ambience. The striking style of the instrument
panel and centre console continues into the door trim. The iconic
circular central instrument layout is at the heart of the dashboard,
and fitted with a full-colour 6.5 or 8.8-inch screen. It serves as a
display for infotainment, phone and navigation functions, and has an
LED ring surround which can optionally respond to the current
situation on the road and to specific operating procedures by means
of an interactive lighting display.
Selection of all functions is via a controller in the centre
console, which comes in conjunction with the standard MINI
Navigation System or optional XL Navigation and Media XL Pack. The
speedometer and rev counter are located in the instrument cluster on
the steering column, as they are on the latest MINI 3-door and
5-door Hatch.
The air conditioning controls are located below the central
screen, as are MINI’s much-loved toggle switches. A red one serves
as the start/stop button for the engine. The standard USB and aux
sockets are located below. Extending up to the instrument panel for
the first time in a MINI, the centre console offers space for a
storage compartment and two cupholders ahead of the gearstick/gear
selector. The centre console is enhanced to include an armrest as
standard, with an optional integrated telephone compartment available.
New options: atmospheric lighting, electrically adjustable
seats and much more
With the new MINI Yours Interior Styles option, the door trim
design is highlighted via illuminated decorative strips. These are
combined with interior trim finishers of various types. The MINI
Excitement Pack features LED interior and ambient lighting which
illuminates the cabin with a choice of selectable colours as well as
an external light display activated when unlocking and locking the
car using the remote key. The MINI logo is projected onto the ground
for 20 seconds from a light source housed in the exterior mirror on
the driver’s side.
Another new option is the electrical adjustment of the driver
and front passenger seats, including memory function on the driver’s
side. For the first time, seat height, longitudinal position,
surface angle, back rest angle and lumbar setting can be adjusted at
the press of a button.
The new MINI Clubman will open up MINI ownership to new customer groups and prove a strong conquest model for the brand thanks to its versatile cabin and varied storage solutions. For example, the large glove box and door compartments can all hold one-litre drink bottles. When the three rear seats are in place, the boot compartment has a volume of 360 litres. For bulkier loads, the rear back rest with a 60:40 split can be folded down, while a 40:20:40 seat is available as an option as part of the through-loading system which includes a rear arm-rest and two integrated cup holders. This enables the load volume to be increased in stages up to 1,250 litres. A storage package is also available, featuring a variable load compartment floor, additional storage, lashing eyes, attachment nets and a cargo positioning feature which can lock the rear seats to 90 degrees allowing for more cargo space.
Over 50% of MINI Clubman customers are expected to choose the
Chili pack which adds a host of additional extras to the car. These
features include cloth/leather upholstery with heated sports seats,
MINI’s comfort access system, park distance control, automatic air
conditioning, LED headlights and LED fog lights among other
features. Chili pack is priced at £2,785 across all models – a 30%
customer saving on MINI Cooper Clubman compared with selecting the
options individually.
Powerful engines with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology
The new MINI Clubman is offered with the choice of two petrol
engines of three and four cylinders, and two diesel engines with
four cylinders at launch. All come with MINI TwinPower Turbo
Technology and meet EU6 exhaust emission standards.
The new MINI Cooper D Clubman features a 2.0-litre engine –
installed in a MINI for the first time – with peak output of 110
kW/150 hp. The unit provides both exceptional pulling power and
efficiency. MINI Clubman petrol engines feature turbocharging,
direct injection with centrally placed injectors, VALVETRONIC fully
variable valve control and variable camshaft control on the intake
and exhaust side.
Six-speed manual transmissions are standard on all versions of
the MINI Clubman. These are characterised by low weight, a high
level of internal efficiency and outstanding shift comfort optimised
with carbon fibre friction linings for the synchroniser rings.
For the new MINI Cooper Clubman, an optional six-speed
Steptronic transmission is available. It provides increased
efficiency and a high level of shift comfort, as well as shift
dynamics optimised for sporty driving.
The four-cylinder engines in the MINI Cooper S Clubman, the
MINI Cooper D Clubman and the MINI Cooper SD Clubman can be
specified with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission – a first for
MINI. When the 8-speed sports automatic transmission is selected on
MINI Cooper S Clubman, it has the additional benefit of steering
wheel paddles for manual gear changes. The technology provides even
more efficient, comfortable and sporty driving due to a broader gear
spread and smaller engine speed steps.
The brand’s pioneering MINIMALISM technologies are also fitted
as standard, with shift point display, brake energy regeneration,
active cooling air flaps and needs-oriented control of the fuel and
coolant pump as well as other ancillary components.
Pricing and standard specification
The new MINI Cooper Clubman starts at £19,995 OTR with a generous standard specification which includes 16” Revolite Spoke alloy wheels, MINI Navigation, Bluetooth handsfree, interior lights pack, central display with LED ring, MINI Excitement pack, start/stop with keyless start among many other features. Cooper D benefits from MINI’s 2.0-litre diesel engine with OTR pricing from £22,265. MINI Cooper S Clubman adds 17” Vent Spoke alloy wheels, twin exhausts, sports seats for the driver and front passenger and Performance Control from £22,755. Cooper SD benefits from 400 Nm of torque and CO2 emissions of 119 g/km from £24,255.
