Why should grown-ups have all the fun? MINI has designed a convertible just for
kids. Based on the design of the MINI Convertible road car, the kid's
convertible is painted in Hot Orange just like the grown up version. Two models
are available - a sporty pedal car and a nippy electric version priced at £125
and £225 respectively. Both models go on sale in the UK for the first time at
Motor Show Live.
The electric version is powered by 6V batteries and zips along at a top speed
of 2.5 mph. Electric torque control ensures gentle acceleration in both forward
and reverse gears and the motor switches off automatically in the event of an
emergency stop. Just like the grown up version, the kid's car has an adjustable
seat to provide the most comfortable position for the driver.
The chain driven pedal version also keeps the driver's seating position at
front of mind as the pedals can be adjusted according to the size of the child.
Build quality, as you would expect from MINI, is class leading. The chassis is
constructed from lacquered steel tubing and the bodywork is made from resistant
plastic.
Both cars are recommended as suitable for children aged between three to five
years of age. Each MINI Convertible kids car comes with a two year unlimited
mileage warranty.
MINI driving capers for big kids
Regardless of age, kids with long enough legs to reach the control pedals on a
fully fledged MINI will be able to take the car for a spin at the BMW
Performance Centre at Rockingham this Bank Holiday weekend. Four free of charge
family days have been arranged for BMW customers and prospects offering them
the opportunity to test BMW's latest performance models on the track, and the
BMW X3 and BMW X5 on an off-road course. Kids will be given the chance to take
their first ever test drive in a MINI by instructors who will introduce them to
MINI's famous go-kart like handling.
