BMW (UK) Ltd has introduced an updated waste management and recycling programme
that will be offered to the entire network of BMW and MINI dealerships and
authorised bodyshops. The programme is specifically designed to provide the
dealer network with a fully compliant single service contract for all waste
collections.

The improved service aims to reduce the amount of workshop waste that is
disposed of in landfill sites to no more than five percent. This challenging
target underlines the BMW Group's commitment to recycling and identifies the
company as an example of best practice within the industry.

Automotive Waste Solutions (AWS), a national waste management company that has
a proven track record nationwide in the field of automotive workshop waste
management, will run the programme. AWS is the only company to offer a total
waste management service. The company recently received recognition for its
work by winning the 2005 Motor Trader Environmental Award.

Previously, a dealer or bodyshop might have to contact several regulated waste
management suppliers in order to ensure the safe disposal of different waste
materials. The new updated service offers a single point of contact for all
waste streams, collecting everything from oil filters to fluorescent tubes and
optimising recycling routes wherever possible. Providing a single point of
contact enables the dealership to reduce administration, confident in the
knowledge that the programme has full legal compliance. Furthermore, as the
service is proactive, the dealer or bodyshop does not even have to call to make
an appointment for collection - AWS will make all the necessary arrangements.

AWS will also take responsibility for supplying the management data required by
the Environment Agency on behalf of the dealer or bodyshop.

Steve Nash, Director of Aftersales at BMW (UK) Ltd said, "I believe our new
waste management and recycling programme will be welcomed by our dealers and
bodyshops. AWS is a leader in its field and are able to provide a cost
effective service that offers clear benefits to our network. We have also
ensured that AWS puts an increased emphasis on the recycling of waste. Not only
is this better from an environmental standpoint, but it also avoids the rising
costs and environmental impact surrounding hazardous waste and landfill."

CO2 emission information.

The values for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and energy consumption shown were determined in a standardised test cycle according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version currently applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers transmission (automatic or manual) and the different wheels and tyres available on the selected model and may vary during the configuration.

The values of the vehicles labelled with (*), are already based on the test cycle according to the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to allow a comparison between vehicles. More information on the transition from NEDC to WLTP test procedures can be found here.

These figures are intended for comparison purposes and may not be representative of what a user achieves under usual driving conditions. For plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles the figures have been obtained using a combination of battery power and petrol fuel after the battery had been fully charged. Plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles require mains electricity for charging. The CO2 emissions labels are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the Passenger Car (Fuel consumption and CO2 Emissions Information) Regulations 2001, as amended. They are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle.

A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge. For further information you can also visit this link.
