Woodcliff Lake, NJ - August 19, 2005... BMW of North America, LLC has brought
three significant BMW racing cars, including the 1979 "Flying Brick" 320 Turbo,
to the 32nd Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, joining more than 400
other vintage racing car enthusiasts at Laguna Seca Raceway, in Monterey,
Calif., for one of the most significant and respected vintage automobile races
in the country.

Racing is at the heart of BMW and beginning with the marque's very first
automobile, the 3/15PS in 1929, has successfully proven the brand through
competition for some 75 years. BMW of North America has raced since its
incorporation in 1975, currently racing the BMW M3 to 14 sports car racing
championships since 1995 and supporting its racing history in vintage racing
events nationwide. Celebrated as the featured marque in 1996, BMW, through BMW
of North America, LLC, has participated at the Monterey Historics annually
since.

Having been recently restored, the legendary "Flying Brick" 320 Turbo will
making its return to the race track for the first time since 1979. BMW of North
America campaigned this turbocharged 2.0-liter 320 in 1977 and 1978 with David
Hobbs behind the wheel. Hobbs is best known to current generation motorsport
fans as a racing commentator, but in 1977 he wheeled this small BMW with
flame-throwing aplomb, winning four IMSA races in the program's first year.
Dubbed the "Flying Bricks" an eventual trio of 320 Turbos would win eight
victories over three seasons, but the Hobbs-driven 320 was the combination that
defined the program. The car will be driven at Monterey by veteran sports car
driver and 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Rahal.

BMW Team PTG driver Tom Milner will pilot a 1979 BMW M1. The car raced at
Monterey this weekend was campaigned in the 1981 IMSA GTO Series, seeing action at the 24 Hours of Daytona, Watkins Glen and Mosport. Drivers included David Hobbs, Mark Surer, and Dieter Quester putting 19-year old Milner in very good
company. The M1 was the first BMW M car and, with only 450 street and racing
cars constructed, is among the most collectible BMWs today.

A BMW 3.0 CSL, the car first raced by BMW of North America in 1975, will be
driven by Monterey Historics founder Steven Earle. The car Earle will drive was
the teammate of the CSL that won BMW's first major sports car race in North
America - the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring.

The BMW Car Club of America is also a very active participant at the Rolex
Monterey Historic Automobile Races. More than 400 club members participate in
the "BMW Festorics". Celebrating its 14th anniversary, the Festorics features a
BMW/MINI only car corral and hospitality area overlooking Laguna Seca's turn
five.

The three-day Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, held Friday, August 19
through Sunday, August 21, 2005, aims to preserve and celebrate automotive
racing history. In addition to vintage car races (comprising vehicles from the
1900s to the 1980s), the event features special displays, an Expo and other
activities.

Immediately following the Rolex Monterey Historic is the Rolex Vintage Festival
Presented by BMW at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT, held this year from
September 2 through September 5, 2005. The East Coast's premier vintage car
event, the Rolex Vintage Festival features a major historic car show, vintage
automobile races, as well as numerous other special events.
