With the presence of Hendrik von Kuenheim, Worldwide BMW Motorrad Manager, along with Henning Dornbusch, president of BMW Group Brazil and Rolf Epp, BMW Motorrad Brazil Manager, BMW Motorcycle Museum at Curitiba was the scene of an important event for the motorcycle brand in Brazil.
Amid a collection of 40 rare BMW motorcycles, Mr Hendrik von
Kuenheim announced the assembly of yet another motorcycle model under
CKD scheme in Manaus. From June, the F 800 GS will start to be
assembled in the Dafra factory along with the G 650 GS and F 800 R.
The F 800 GS will be available at the BMW Motorrad dealerships in
Brazil from August onwards.
"In 2009, BMW Motorrad put into operation its first plant
outside Europe. We invested in the Manaus CKD factory along with our
local partner Dafra and more than 2400 single-cylinder BMW motorcycles
have been produced so far. The experience, the market success and the
customer acceptance obtained by the G 650 GS produced in Manaus were
so positive that we decided to extend the CKD production for a total
of three models", said Hendrik von Kuenheim, global head of BMW
Motorrad.
Another major revelation was the new 6-cylinder motorcycle, the
BMW K 1600 GT, which reinforces the excellence of BMW Motorrad in the
production of touring motorcycles. Along with enduro and sports
motorcycles, touring models have been one of the most important and
successful segments for BMW.
The 6-cylinder engine combines maneuverability and impressive
power with an incredible level of riding smoothness, all the way
between long distance travel and dynamic riding on winding roads. With
this first 6-cylinder motorcycle, BMW Motorrad writes an entirely new
chapter in the history of the brand.
