The BMW 7 Series to be added to production in Cairo. BMW Group is still
growing in Egypt in the first months of 2006 Cairo. 2005 was already
for BMW Group a very successful year with a new all-time record in
retail volume with a total of more than 1.32 million vehicles
worldwide. With this overall retail volume the BMW Group was not only
the world's strongest-growing premium manufacturer in the automotive
industry, but was also currently the clear segment leader in overall
retail volume. BMW Group is continuing to grow strongly in the first
months of 2006. This year the company intends to reach a new record in
retail volume as well as a new record in pre-tax profit of euro 4
billion. "With our ongoing product and market initiatives, the BMW
Group will continue its successful course in the years to come, showing
further positive developments in terms of revenues and earnings."
says Mr. Helmut Broeker, Managing Director of BMW Group for the Region
Africa and Caribbean. As a consequence of these very positive results
BMW Group intends to strengthen and extend its position as the world's
leading premium manufacturer in the automotive industry over the years
to come. The retail target of 1.4 million vehicles, originally expected
to be reached in 2008, will be met one year ahead of schedule. Thanks
to the high desirability of the BMW Group model range, goals for the
future remain ambitious. Indeed it wants to pursue its profitable
growth path further in the years ahead and intend to deliver a total of
about 1.6 million BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles to customers in
the year 2010. This would mean almost a doubling of Group sales volume
in the course of ten years since 2000. BMW Group's premium brand
strategy has also proved to be very successful here in Egypt. In 2005
an all-time retail record was reached with over 1,700 automobiles sold.
Never before had BMW Group delivered so many BMW and MINI automobiles
in Egypt. This year the growth is continuing in Egypt with an increase
of 22% of the sales in the first four months of 2006 in comparison with
the same period last year. These results also show that the premium
automobile strategy fulfils the expectations of our customers in Egypt.
The BAG plant with its excellent quality provides BMW Group with the
means to meet its goal of increased growth in retail and turnover in
the Egyptian market. This plant is proof of the successful partnership
between the BMW Group and the Bavarian Auto Group. In the BAG plant,
the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series are produced for the Egyptian market, and
the production of the BMW X3 was added in March. In addition, BMW Group
delivers an array of imported automobiles, such as BMW X5, BMW 6
Series, 7 Series, 3 Series, 1 Series, BMW Z4 and MINI products. All the
BMW Group cars - whether made in Egypt or imported - stand for BMW
quality and reliability and are filled with BMW engineering Know-how.
Being able to build on its present performance in the Egyptian market,
BMW Group is committed to further extend its activities. "As a
consequence I am very pleased to announce that one more of our
automobiles will be manufactured near Cairo, namely the BMW 7
Series", says Mr. Broeker. BMW Group has studied the market and
the demands of its valuable clients very closely in order to exceed
their most demanding expectations. The preparation for the new 7 Series
production in Egypt started more than a year ago and BMW Group can now
announce that the first vehicles will be able to be delivered to the
customers in Egypt already in September this year. Considering the
all-time record 2005 in the Egyptian market, BMW Group expects its
retail volume for 2006 in Egypt to increase further. By starting the BMW
7 Series local production an important step was set on the way to reach
this goal. ### BMW Group Africa & Caribbean The regional
