Whether in the DTM, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar
Championship, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, or countless other
championships, week after week BMW teams and drivers around the
world do battle for points, victories and titles. Away from the
track too, members of the large BMW Motorsport family around the
world are also creating headlines. The “BMW Motorsport News” allows
us to regularly summarise all the action for you in a compact and
informative manner. This way, you are always up to speed.
DTM Trophy: Two podiums at the Nürburgring.
Rounds five and six of the DTM Trophy were held on the
Nürburgring Grand Prix track (GER) as part of the DTM last weekend.
Three BMW M customer racing teams were part of the action, competing
with five BMW M4 GT4s in total. In the first race on Saturday, Ben
Green and Ben Tuck (both GBR) made it onto the podium for FK
Performance Motorsport and Walkenhorst Motorsport in second and third
places. On Sunday, Green narrowly missed out on his second podium of
the weekend, finishing fourth while Tuck crossed the finish line in
13th place. In the second FK Performance Motorsport BMW M4
GT4, Luke Wankmüller (GER) finished in ninth place on Saturday but was
not classified on Sunday. Max Koebolt (NED) in Walkenhorst
Motorsport’s second car finished in 19th and seventh place.
Michael Schrey (GER) was in action for Hofor Racing by Bonk Motorsport
and finished sixth in both races. Tuck and Green are the best-placed
BMW drivers in the driver’s standings, in third and fourth place,
Koebolt is in sixth.
GT4 France: Win and podium for L’Espace
Bienvenue.
Ricardo van der Ende (NED) and Benjamin
Lessennes (BEL) of L’Espace Bienvenue remain the measure of all things
in GT4 France. The duo celebrated a win and a third place at the wheel
of the BMW M4 GT4 at the second race weekend of the season at
Magny-Cours (FRA), which saw them consolidate their lead in the
overall standings of the Silver Cup. After van der Ende and Lessennes
were forced to concede defeat in the race on Saturday, coming in third
in the overall classification and second in the Silver Cup, they
celebrated their fourth win at the fifth race of the season on Sunday.
