Munich. Tuesday’s “Opening Show Event” provided the perfect opportunity for a select few of the biggest names in the field at the BMW International Open (23rd to 28th June 2015) to warm up for the 27th staging of the iconic tournament at Golfclub München Eichenried. Henrik Stenson (Sweden), Camilo Villegas (Colombia), BMW Golfsport Ambassador Max Kieffer (Germany), Thorbjørn Olesen (Denmark), defending champion Fabrizio Zanotti (Paraguay), and Retief Goosen (South Africa) thrilled spectators with an exciting competition, which incorporated three very different competitive elements – and saw Olesen walking away as beaming winner.

The stars first went head to head in a six-hole (stroke play) competition, pulling off a number of spectacular, crowd-pleasing shots in the course of this short round. Next up was the “Hole-in-One Challenge”, which saw the players take aim at the 18th pin from the grandstand on the 18th green – in the midst of the golf fans in München-Eichenried. Unfortunately, none of the players managed to pull off the ultimate feat and sink their ball in just one shot. This meant the main prize, a BMW Cruise e-Bike, was carried over to the final competition of the day.

The winner was ultimately decided in the BMW Car Golf Challenge: playing in two groups of three, the pros first went head to head in two semi-finals, with the winner the first to guide their ball into the hole using only a radio-controlled BMW i8. Olesen and Villegas showed the kind of driving skills they are renowned for on the golf course to emerge victorious and qualify for the grand finale. Olesen again proved to be the man to beat with a radio control in his hand, and was delighted to be presented with his new bike.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
