Munich (DE). Following the superb win at the recent 2015 Pharaons Rally (10th-16th May), round 4 of the 2015 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup, MINI and its MINI ALL4 Racing are once again back in the thick of the action.
Two MINI ALL4 Racing have made the journey from Germany to Argentina to compete in the Desafio Ruta 40, a rally raid of note and one race of the highly competitive Dakar Series. Argentinean pairings Orlando Terranova / Bernardo Ronnie Graue and Lucio Alvarez / Sebastian Halpern have applied their home event advantage by taking their MINI ALL4 Racing to first and second places after Stage One of the five stage race. Orlando Terranova starts Stage Two as the man to beat.
While the Desafío Ruta 40 isn’t part of the 2015 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup it is a perfect arena for testing and development of the MINI ALL4 Racing – the same testing process that has seen the MINI ALL4 Racing – based on the production MINI John Cooper Works Countryman – becoming one of most successful cross-country rally cars ever produced
The five stages of the Desafío Ruta 40 will take in route conditions that are totally different to the recent achievements achieved in the deserts of Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Egypt, where MINI and it MINI ALL4 Racing won all three events to take the lead in the 2015 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. Desafío Ruta 40 will combine heavily rutted low-lying sections and rocky mountain routes (up to 1200 metres above sea level). Some of the race sections even take the competitors across the same areas used in the 2015 Dakar Rally.
The Desafio Ruta 40 concludes Saturday 23rd May with the completion of Stage Five between the South American points of Chilecito and Villa Unión - a total of 2826 kilometres, with the special-stage mileage totaling approximately 1539.5 kilometres. / Sebastian Halpern
