Sydney. The results of the 28th BMW Golf Cup International are in: Team China (Jiang Fangxi, Dong Desheng, Liu Zhuoxin) triumphed in the national competition in Sydney, Australia. And one of the three individual titles up for grabs at the World Final of the largest international tournament series for amateur golfers also went to China: Jiang Fangxi (105 net points) won the Ladies category. In the Men’s competition, victory went to Thailand’s Yukol Yingyongkij (Men A, 106 net points) and Arjun Khanna of the United Arab Emirates (Men B, 100 net points). An unforgettable week for the 116 participants from 43 different countries on the fifth continent drew to a close with a gala dinner, at which Scottish golf legend Colin Montgomerie and Marc-Heinrich Werner, Chief Executive Officer BMW Group Australia, presented the trophies.

“Congratulations to the winners of the World Final – the best of the 100,000 golfers who entered the BMW Golf Cup International all over the world this season. That is a great achievement,“ said Werner. „The same goes for everyone who qualified for the World Final. I am delighted that we were able to welcome you to Australia. I am sure that the third World Final of the BMW Golf Cup International in Sydney, like those in 2004 and 2007, will live long in all our memories.”

Montgomerie, who won the “European Tour Order of Merit” a record eight times, had thrilled the World Finalists with his skill and charm during an exclusive golf clinic on Friday afternoon. “I can only repeat what I have said before: this is a fantastic series of tournaments, and I am delighted to have been invited to the final of the 28th staging of this competition. That is an impressive number,” said the Scott. “With its commitment to professional and amateur golf, BMW is a hugely important partner of the sport. The World Final is a wonderful event for golf enthusiasts all over the world, and it is an honour for me to be here to join in this festival of golf.“

The tournament was played in the exclusive New South Wales Golf Club. The club is located on the Tasmanian Sea coast and surrounded by water on three sides. The swirling winds and small greens make the “La Perouse” links course a genuine challenge – although the location does offer spectacular views.

After three rounds (Stableford, net) it was Jiang Fangxi who claimed a dominant win in the Ladies category (HCP up to -28). Runner-up Yoko Makino of Japan (101) finished four points off the lead. Third place went to South Africa’s Marlie Le Roux (88). The Men A category (HCP up to -12) was a much closer affair. Yingyongkij triumphed by just one point over China’s Dong Desheng in second place (105). He was followed by Kazuaki Yamauchi of Japan (103). In the Men B catergory (HCP -13 to -28) Khanna (100) was joined on the podium by Belgian Flemming Pittoors (98) and Liu Zhouxin (93) of China.

CO2 emission information.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tyre size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Further information are available at www.bmw.de/wltp and at www.dat.de/co2/.
