The BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet Superbike Team has completed the official post-race day test at the Alcañiz's MotorLand Aragón. Two sessions of two hours and twenty minutes each gave Michel Fabrizio and Ayrton Badovini the chance to try new set-up adjustments and to test the new 17'' Pirelli tyres (SC1 compound), that will make its official World Superbike debut next season.
With good weather conditions - 22°C air temperature and 39° on the track during the morning session, 27°C and 50°C in the afternoon - Michel Fabrizio was able to complete 56 laps and to set a 1'58.816 with race tyres on, in a test specifically oriented for him to find a good set-up for race distance. Ayrton Badovini put in forty-five laps and successfully tested the new development tyres available with which he set a 1'57.658, the third fastest time of the test.
The team will head back to Italy tomorrow and will start its preparation for the ninth round of the World Superbike season at Brno's Automotodrom on July 20-22.
Serafino Foti, BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet Superbike Team Sporting Director, said: "It was a positive day, in which we made a different work plan for our two riders. Ayrton mainly concentrated on tyre testing for Pirelli, evaluating the new 17'' spec that surprised us positively as at once we set our best lap-time ever here at Aragon. I must congratulate with them for this new solution, which gives us a positive prospect for 2013.
Michel spent most of his time trying to find the best set-up in order to improve his lap-time performance on race tyres. The indications we got were positive on both sides of the garage. We look forward to Brno with confidence and we will evaluate all the data during the break before the next round."
