Lili Dujourie is famous for her video works, photographic series and works on paper as well as her three-dimensional works. At Ludlow 38 she shows “American Imperialism”, a variable installation comprising steel sheets and a painted wall, as well as three collages from 1978. In addition, the exhibition features three films as well as some photographs and a preparatory drawing by Ion Grigorescu. Ludlow 38 is an initiative of the Goethe Institute in collaboration with the European Kunsthalle Cologne, which succeeds Kunstverein Munich as the art space’s curatorial partner for this year. The venue opened on February 8, 2008; it is situated at the center of the emerging gallery scene on the Lower East Side near Chinatown and just a short walk from the New Museum of Contemporary Art. Designed by artists Ethan Breckenridge and Liam Gillick, Ludlow 38 is to be understood as a satellite space for contemporary and innovative art. The exhibition space has been made possible through the collaboration with MINI. “Ludlow 38” is located at 38 Ludlow Street (between Grand and Hester Street), New York, 10002.
