Munich. Soon, new exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and interior trim variants will provide BMW 1 Series and BMW 5 Series customers with additional scope for individualisation from spring 2024.
An almost 50 per cent increase in charging power will optimise the potential for locally emission-free driving in the plug-in-hybrid variants of the BMW 5 Series and BMW X5, and the new BMW M5. Innovative entertainment in the form of in-car gaming will be available for further BMW models from spring 2024. In addition, it will be possible to assign graduated rights when releasing digital car keys.
BMW 1 Series.
From November 2024 production, all members of the new BMW 1 Series family will offer customers extra scope for adapting the exterior to their personal tastes. The range of exterior paint shades now includes Fire Red metallic, BMW Individual Tanzanite Blue metallic and M Brooklyn Grey metallic. And 19-inch forged light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design bring extra, neatly judged sharpness to the sporting appearance of the new 1 Series. On the M Performance model and cars specified with the M Sport package, these wheels are also offered with sport tyres.
Increased charging power for selected plug-in-hybrid models.
All plug-in-hybrid versions of the BMW X5 xDrive50e and new BMW M5 Sedan now benefit from higher AC charging rates. The increase from 7.4 kW previously to 11 kW now enables users to replenish the high-voltage battery of their cars in a significantly shorter time.
It will now be possible to charge the battery in the BMW X5 xDrive50e from 0 to 100 per cent within three hours, while the 0 to 100 per cent charging times for the BMW M5 will be reduced by an hour to 2 hours 15 minutes. This allows the cars’ potential for locally emission-free everyday driving to be utilised even more effectively and flexibly.
New Remote Software Upgrades, improved key release options and in-car gaming across a wider selection of BMW models.
New and improved functions will be made available for current BMW models in autumn 2024 via Remote Software Upgrades, and installed in the car over-the-air. The features involved will be selected specifically for the model variant, vehicle specification and BMW Operating System version at hand. Also optimised is the scope for sharing the BMW Digital Key / BMW Digital Key Plus with additional users.
From Spring 2024, innovative entertainment in the form of in-car gaming on the control display will be added to examples of the BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW XM, BMW iX and BMW 7 Series luxury sedan produced since July 2023. Among the features included will be a constantly expanding number of streaming services. This offering also enables a form of in-car gaming unique in the automotive sector as part of a collaboration with the AirConsole platform. The driver and passengers can spend any downtime they have in the car when it is stationary by playing casual games. They only need their smartphone, which will serve as a controller. The continuously growing portfolio of playable titles includes racing, sports and quiz games – such as “Pictionary”, which will be offered from December 2024. These gaming options can be added from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store and installed with ease over-the-air.
* All new models due to enter production in November 2024
** All
figures relating to fuel/electric power consumption and emissions
(plug-in-hybrid models: weighted, combined) are provisional. The drive
power of the plug-in-hybrid models depends on the charge level of the
high-voltage battery.
