The rugged landscapes of the Karoo provided the backdrop for an unparalleled adventure as the GS Trophy 2024 Qualifier South Africa unfolded over three action-packed days from 8 - 12 November 2023. Riders from across the country converged to showcase their skills, determination and the indomitable spirit of the GS community.
From the picturesque Aberdeen to the captivating trails of Fullarton, participants covered a remarkable 663 km, overcoming challenges that tested both man and machine. Broken clutches, damaged motorcycles and punctures were mere bumps on the road to triumph, emphasising the resilience and camaraderie that define the GS experience.
The event celebrated the pursuit of excellence in riding and fostered lasting connections among participants. The #SpiritOfGS was vividly displayed as friendships were forged over shared hardships, early mornings and late nights.
The grand finale, set against nature's elements, showcased the top riders who navigated an intense arena challenge. The results revealed Morne van Rooyen, JP Boer and Ruhan de Villiers as the triumphant champions who will represent South Africa in the International GS Trophy 2024. Additionally, Elizna Weideman and Dianne McLean, the two female champions, will compete in a final qualifying round in Spain in January.
A special thanks to the event sponsors, Turkana, BMW ZA IT Hub and BMW Financial Services for their commitment to making the event a resounding success. The International GS Trophy 2024 will be hosted in Namibia in September 2024.
