Midrand – The BMW X3 might be perfectly at home on rough terrain and winding gravel tracks, but the Mzansi Edition of this locally-built hero displays another, more athletic dimension to the SAV with a range of sportier features.

While the BMW X3 Mzansi Edition remains rugged to its core – it is, after all equipped with xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive as standard – it shows off its street smarts with a range of accessories, including:

  • M Sport package
  • M high-gloss Shadow Line evidenced by the blacked-out kidney grille and frame,
  • M carbon wing mirror caps,
  • Red M Sport brake callipers,
  • A sporty rear wing spoiler finished in high-gloss black, and
  • Black chrome tail pipe accents, and a black high-gloss rear diffuser.

The Mzansi Edition is available in five colours and comes standard with a fully electrically operated tow hitch. Inside the cabin, familiar but welcome appointments, thanks to the standard M Sport package, add a panorama glass sunroof, ambient lighting, BMW Live Cockpit Professional and wireless charging (for compatible smartphones).

The BMW X3 Mzansi Edition is powered by the four-cylinder turbodiesel engine found in the standard BMW X3 xDrive20d model. With an output of 140 kW and peak torque of 400 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, the BMW X3 Mzansi Edition covers the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 8.0 seconds and will race to a top speed of 213 km/h. Its eight-speed Steptronic transmission remains unchanged.

The recommended retail price for the BMW X3 xDrive20d Mzansi Edition is R1,012,938 (including CO2 tax).
