Midrand – BMW South Africa has created an exclusive, special-edition of the current fifth-generation BMW M5 model boasting performance that sets it apart from its stable mates. The BMW M5 Pure Metal Edition will be available in a limited number of 20 vehicles from this month (October 2015).
Developing 441kW and peak torque of 700Nm, this special-edition is the most powerful BMW M5 ever to emerge from series production under the auspices of BMW M GmbH. The M5 Pure Metal Edition sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 305km/h.
Its BMW Individual-inspired looks, as well as dynamic and comfort-enhancing equipment, make this special edition BMW M5 a highly desirable collector’s item.
Under the bonnet of the BMW M5 Pure Metal Edition is a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an output of 441kW, which is 29kW higher than the standard BMW M5 and 18kW higher than the Competition Package. This power boost has been achieved through carefully calculated modifications to the engine management system and an increase in charge pressure.
The Competition Package comprises modifications including a revised chassis set-up with firmer spring/damper tuning and a 10mm drop in ride height. Added to which, the Active M Differential on the final drive gains its own control unit to further improve traction. In addition, the steering with M specific Servotronic function has more direct mapping and the M Dynamic Mode of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system is focused even more on delivering sporty handling characteristics. M Carbon Ceramic Brakes ensure the car is brought to a standstill in a safe distance, yet offering superb braking on the race track.
The foundation for these upgrades was provided by the Competition Package – a package that already came with a power upgrade. Conceived to appreciably enrich the handling characteristics of the BMW M5, it can be ordered as an option for the regular model and is part of the special edition’s standard specification along with the M Driver’s package.
The special-edition model has been given the BMW Individual treatment. As a result, it cuts a more dynamic, head-turning figure than its standard siblings. The striking BMW Individual Pure Metal Silver Metallic paint and 20” M Double spoke alloy wheels accentuates the elegantly muscular forms of this limited edition BMW M5.
A plaque bearing ‘PURE METAL M5’ and ‘1/20’ inscription is integrated into the Dark Aluminium Trace interior trim.
Both the driver and front passenger in the M5 Pure Metal Edition can settle into M Sport multifunction seats, upholstered in full leather Merino Fine grain, black with contrast stitching in Silverstone.
In addition to the exclusive content, the BMW M5 Pure Metal Edition also comes standard with the Comfort Access feature with smart opener, Driving Assist and Lumbar support.
Pricing for this limited edition model will be R1, 948, 000 (incl. VAT, excl. CO2 Tax).
