Midrand – For the third consecutive year, the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) Graduate Recruitment Awards, has bestowed the honour of Employer of Choice in the Automotive Industry to BMW South Africa. The company’s Graduate Development Programme remains highly favoured among graduate trainees, who continuously place its development programme ahead of a number of businesses which offer a similar curriculum.

BMW South Africa remains graduate employer of choice
Midrand – For the third consecutive year, the South African Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) Graduate Recruitment Awards, has bestowed the honour of Employer of Choice in the Automotive Industry to BMW South Africa. The company’s Graduate Development Programme remains highly favoured among graduate trainees, who continuously place its development programme ahead of a number of businesses which offer a similar curriculum.
“This is a significant accolade for us, as each candidate is given the opportunity to name the organisation they felt had the best graduate programme within the relevant sectors. This award bares testament to the calibre of training BMW South Africa’s Graduate Development Programme offers,” says Cyril Khambula, Human Resources Director at BMW South Africa.
The SAGEA Graduate Recruitment Awards were developed as part of the SAGEA Candidate Survey, carried out by specialist student and graduate research company, High Fliers Research Ltd.
Now in its sixth consecutive year, the survey is conducted on an annual basis to assist SAGEA members review the success of their graduate campaigns, and help plan future programmes.
The winner in each category is decided entirely by successful graduates, who have received confirmed job offers from graduate employers – which is a key differentiating factor for these awards. Research was conducted between April and May 2015, by means of an online questionnaire attracting a substantial 2,169 candidates.
Earlier this year, BMW Group South Africa was also named the number one employer in the automotive industry for the second consecutive year in the Universum Most Attractive Employer Awards for 2015.
“As a leading provider of premium products and services in the luxury vehicle segment, we continuously strive for excellence in all our operations and remain committed to developing and maintaining the capabilities of our work force,” adds Khambula.
The BMW South Africa Graduate Development Programme has been running since early 2000 and was restructured in 2013. Since the restructuring, more than 60 graduates have taken part in the 24-month programme. Graduates are mentored and trained in the fields of commerce, engineering, information technology, finance and business management as well as corporate communications. The programme has also resulted in an exceptional 85% retention of graduates.
