Midrand – BMW South Africa is expanding its dynamic and sophisticated BMW 5 Series with a new model variant, the BMW 520d. With this new four-cylinder diesel engine, a sixth model variant of the BMW 5 Series family is now available in South Africa. It is with its common-rail fuel injection and VTG turbocharger the lowest petrol consuming model in the 5 Series product range and offers a thrilling combination of sporting dynamics and supreme all-round economy.

Developing maximum output of 130 kW combined with peak torque of 350 Newton-metres, the new diesel engine gives the BMW 520d sporting performance and dynamism on the road: The Sedan accelaerates in 8.6 seconds to 100km/h and the top speed is 223 km/h. The average fuel consumption is 5.6 litres/100 kilometres and the CO2 emissions are 149 g/km.
The balance of driving dynamics and fuel consumption is based on the BMW EfficientDynamics strategy.

Elegant exterior design:
The BMW 520d sets, as the other 5 Series variants, sporting and elegant accentuations of exterior design: headlights and rear light clusters in technically outstanding clear glass look, chrome headlight surrounds with position light rings at the front, LED direction indicators and five light conductor rods at the rear, newly contoured air intake with upward-facing design, BMW kidney grille with individual surrounds flush to the front air dam, greater horizontal subdivision and additional light contours at the rear providing an even more powerful look, striking light contour in the side-sills accentuating the car’s elegance from the side, attractive new light-alloy wheels, additional exterior colours.
