Premieră mondială la Amelia Island: noile BMW X5 şi BMW X6, precum şi noile BMW X5 M Competition şi BMW X6 M Competition

Bucureşti/München. Pentru fanii maşinilor clasice din America de Nord, Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance a fost mult timp evenimentul perfect de deschidere a sezonului. Iar cea de-a 28-a ediţie a reuniunii de primăvară a scos în lumina reflectoarelor rarităţi rafinate din trecut, precum şi modele noi din Bavaria. BMW şi BMW M GmbH şi-au unit forţele pentru a prezenta noile ediţii ale modelelor Sports Activity Vehicle şi Sports Activity Coupé - produse la uzina BMW Group din Spartanburg. Evenimentul a marcat premiera noilor BMW X5 şi BMW X6, dar şi a variantelor de înaltă performanţă BMW X5 M Competition şi BMW X6 M Competition, cu designul şi tehnologia lor îmbunătăţite semnificativ.

Modificările precise ale designului, inclusiv noi faruri şi cea mai recentă versiune a sistemului de control/operare BMW iDrive complet digital cu ecran central curbat BMW, aduc o imagine modernă pentru designul exteriorul şi interiorul. Noutăţi importante sunt sistemul de propulsie şi mai puternic pentru modelul plug-in hybrid BMW X5 xDrive50e cu o baterie cu capacitate crescută cu 15% la 25,7 kWh (capacitate netă) şi noile motoare cu tehnologie mild-hybrid 48 V disponibilă la toate celelalte variante de model, inclusiv, în permieră pentru versiunile V8 ale modelor M.

Noile BMW X5 M Competition şi BMW X6 M Competition au un design exterior cu linii dinamice potenţate şi, pentru prima dată, un design comun al părţii frontale.

Cockpitul ambelor automobile dispune de tehnologie de ultimă generaţie sub forma ecranului central curbat BMW, inclusiv sistemul de control/operare BMW iDrive cu conţinut de ecran specific M.

Noile modele care au avut premiera mondială la Amelia Island beneficiază, de asemenea, de un portofoliu extins semnificativ de sisteme pentru condus şi parcare autonome. De exemplu, maşinile pot fi parcate acum şi pot fi efectuate manevre complete din exteriorul automobilului folosind un Apple iPhone.

BMW Group Classic străluceşte cu legende ale curselor şi simboluri de design

Alături de noile creaţii sportive de la BMW şi BMW M, la Amelia Island a fost prezentă şi o adevărată legendă a motorsportului - BMW 3.0 CSL. BMW Group Classic a adus legendarul model la eveniment pentru a marca o aniversare cu totul specială. În urmă cu exact 50 de ani, Toine Hezemans (Olanda) şi Dieter Quester (Austria) au pilotat 3.0 CSL spre victorie în clasa turismelor ("Tourisme Spéciale") la cursa de 24 de ore de la Le Mans. Fiabilitatea motorului de 3,3 litri al maşinii #51 a jucat aici un rol-cheie, pentru că echipajul a terminat şi pe locul al 11-lea în clasamentul general la prestigioasa clasică de anduranţă.

La Amelia Island, coupé-ul de curse 3.0 CSL a fost expus pe rând în standul BMW Group Classic cu versiunea de serie a maşinii cu două uşi cunoscută şi sub numele de "Batmobile" (mulţumită designului aerodinamic pronunţat). Această etapă finală de dezvoltare a BMW 3.0 CSL cu motor de 3,2 litri care produce 206 CP, din care au fost fabricate doar 167 de exemplare, sărbătoreşte anul acesta 50 de ani. O altă prezenţă specială din portofoliul BMW Group Classic a fost BMW 507, una din cele mai emblematice modele din istoria mărcii.

BMW Z3 şi BMW Z4: sentimentul distinctiv de roadster BMW de-a lungul a patru generaţii

În perioada premergătoare Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, aproape trei decenii de istorie roadster au fost reunite. O călătorie prin Florida a reunit o serie de modele BMW Z3 şi BMW Z4 din patru generaţii. Portofoliul de maşini selectate pentru turneul din sudul Floridei până la locul evenimentului de maşini clasice din nord-estul Californiei a variat de la BMW Z3 la cel mai recent BMW Z4, care recent a primit o nouă actualizare de design şi de echipamente.

BMW Z3 a fost primul model construit pentru piaţa globală la uzina BMW Group din Spartanburg (statul Carolina de Sud). Roadsterul a fost dezvăluit în 1995 şi a avut prima sa apariţie publică în "GoldenEye", filmul de succes din seria James Bond. A rămas în vânzare până în 2002, când a fost înlocuit cu primul BMW Z4. Noul model a crescut în dimensiuni, a venit cu linii de design mai rafinate şi a adus o serie de elemente moderne de tehnologie. Şapte ani mai târziu, a doua generaţie BMW Z4 a oferit o interpretare nouă a artei roadsterului - cu liniile sale elegante şi, mai ales, cu un hard top metalic retractabil, care putea fi coborât şi ridicat electrohidraulic la apăsarea unui buton. Cea de-a treia generaţie a BMW Z4 a debutat 2018. A păstrat acelaşi proporţii, dominate de o capotă lungă şi linie laterală joasă, alăturate unui soft top clasic, operat electric, şi un nou nivel de calităţi dinamice îl scot în evidenţă, la fel şi motorul unic în segmentul său, cu şase cilindri în linie, al vârfului de gamă.

Precise design modifications, including new headlights and the latest version of the fully digital control/operation system BMW iDrive with BMW Curved Display, bring fresh cutting-edge appeal to the exterior and interior of the new BMW X5 and new BMW X6. And taking driving pleasure to new heights are the new and more powerful drive system for the BMW X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid model (fuel consumption, combined: 1.1 – 0.8 l/100 km [256.8 – 353.1 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined: 27.0 – 22.9 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 26 – 18 g/km in the WLTP cycle) and the likewise new engines with 48V mild hybrid technology fitted in all other model variants. The new BMW X5 M Competition and new BMW X6 M Competition have a visibly honed exterior and, for the first time, a shared front-end design. The cabins of both vehicles feature state-of-the-art technology in the form of the BMW Curved Display including the BMW iDrive control/operation system with M-specific screen content. Their extensively modified V8 engines now also work with 48V technology and deliver their maximum output of 460 kW/625 hp with even greater urgency and in even more impressive style.

All four models handed their world premieres at Amelia Island also benefit from a significantly expanded portfolio of systems for automated driving and parking. For example, the cars can now be parked and complete manoeuvres carried out from outside the vehicle using an Apple iPhone.

Joining the fray alongside the sporty new arrivals from BMW and BMW M at Amelia Island was a true legend of motor sport – the BMW 3.0 CSL. BMW Group Classic brought the fabled racer to the show to mark a very special anniversary. Exactly 50 years ago, Toine Hezemans (NL) and Dieter Quester (AT) drove the 3.0 CSL to victory in the touring car (“Tourisme Spéciale”) class at the Le Mans 24 Hours race. The reliability of the 3.3-litre engine in the number 51 car played a key role here, as the pairing also finished 11th in the overall standings at the prestigious endurance classic.

At Amelia Island, the 3.0 CSL racing coupé took turns on display in the BMW Group Classic space with the series-produced version of the two-door car also known as the “Batmobile” (on account of its spectacular rear wing). This final development stage of the BMW 3.0 CSL with 3.2-litre engine producing 206 hp, of which only 167 examples were made, is also celebrating its 50th birthday this year. Adding the cherry to the cake of the BMW Group Classic line-up was the BMW 507. The roadster’s reputation as one of the most iconic BMW cars of all time endures to this day.

The run-up to the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance saw almost three decades of roadster history reunited. A road trip through Florida brought together a handful of BMW Z3 and BMW Z4 models from four generations. The line-up of cars selected for the tour from southern Florida to the venue for the classic car event in the north-east of the Sunshine State ranged from the BMW Z3 to the latest BMW Z4, which recently gained a fresh round of design and equipment updates.

The BMW Z3 was the first model built for the global market at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the US state of South Carolina. The roadster was unveiled in 1995 and made its first public appearance in the blockbuster James Bond movie GoldenEye. It remained on sale until 2002, when it was replaced by the first BMW Z4. With its eye-catching lines and cutting-edge equipment details, the Z4 put clear ground between itself and its predecessor. Seven years further on, the second-generation BMW Z4 provided a fresh interpretation of the roadster art – with its elegantly sweeping lines and, most notably, a retractable metal hardtop which could be lowered and raised again electrohydraulically at the touch of a button. The third generation of the Z4 has been putting smiles on the faces of open-top driving pleasure aficionados since 2018. Crisp proportions, a classical – and electrically powered – soft-top roof and a new level of dynamic talent set it apart from the crowd, as does the unique-in-its-segment straight-six engine of the range-topping model.
