Sharon Stone's charm and 45,000 euros of auction proceeds - Positive conclusion to Cinema for Peace Gala in Berlin.
Mon Feb 19 08:45:00 CET 2007 Press Release
Berlin. "Going... going... gone!" Sharon Stone's smile is charming but resolute. And the new owner of the silver BMW Z4 - just acquired for 45,000 euros - also looks very pleased with the outcome. The auction proceeds will go to UNICEF and other charities. The winner of the auction at the Cinema for Peace Gala can look forward to even more pleasant driving experience: he will shortly have the pleasure and the privilege of sitting in the driving seat of a BMW Hydrogen 7, powered by hydrogen, to drive to Heiligendamm for the shooting of the German version of the film 'The girl in the café' by Richard Curtis.

The auction proceeds will go to UNICEF and other charities. The winner
of the auction at the Cinema for Peace Gala can look forward to even
more pleasant driving experience: he will shortly have the pleasure and
the privilege of sitting in the driving seat of a BMW Hydrogen 7,
powered by hydrogen, to drive to Heiligendamm for the shooting of the
German version of the film 'The girl in the café' by Richard
Curtis. 'Auctioneer' Sharon Stone was one of the star guests at
yesterday's Peace Gala, the social highlight of the International Film
Festival in Berlin. Just like the popular American actress, Richard
Gere and Bob Geldof had arrived in the new BMW Hydrogen 7 for the
evening event. This was the first time that BMW has been involved with
Cinema for Peace. Besides providing the Z4 for the auction, the
automobile manufacturer was also responsible for the shuttle service,
operating a fleet of 32 vehicles. Irish musician Bob Geldof has been
especially honoured, being awarded the newly initiated 'Cinema for
Peace Pioneer Award presented by BMW CleanEnergy' for his outstanding
commitment to social issues. The award was presented by Anton
Reisinger, who looked back on BMW's involvement in the event with
satisfaction. "Partnership between Cinema for Peace and BMW marks
the coming together of two pioneers who take social responsibility and
are conscious of the need to set a good example. The event has been a
complete success," said the BMW Group Marketing Director
CleanEnergy. Cinema for Peace is committed to bringing about a
more just and humane society and acts to promote peace and tolerance in
the world. BMW is a pioneer in the field of hydrogen technology. The
automotive group aims to make people realise that it is time to
rethink, and that an alternative, sustainable source of energy is
indispensable. Footage of the event for broadcasting purposes may be
downloaded at www.thenewsmarket.com. The material is free of charge and
is not subject to copyright. Registration will follow within one day.
