Fulda. At stand No. 208 in Hall 2 and on the outdoor area of the specialist trade fair RETTmobil 2018 in Fulda (15 to 17 May 2019), the BMW Group will again present a wide selection of its tailor-made special-purpose vehicles for rescue teams, fire services, emergency physicians and police forces.

The RETTmobil, which is being held this year for the 19th time, is again recognized undoubtedly as the leading European exhibition for emergency services and mobility and as a worldwide significant forum for innovation, security, quality, competence and advanced training. With 530 exhibitors from 20 nations, the trade fair will be setting new benchmarks this year. During the three days of the exhibition, more than 28,000 visitors – including numerous representatives of authorities, communities and associations – are expected to flock to the 20 exhibition halls totalling a floor area of around 70,000 square metres and also to the vast outdoor area.

Six special-purpose vehicles for fire services, emergency physicians and the police.

For many years now, the BMW Group has been one of the major exhibitors at the RETTmobil, and this year, with six different models on two and four wheels, will again provide a detailed insight into its diverse range of specialised vehicles. The selection of exhibition vehicles is led by the new 3 Series Sedan with a concealed special signalling system. The BMW Group stand will also showcase a BMW 220d xDrive Gran Tourer (4.8 litres diesel per 100 kilometres; CO2 emissions 128 g/km*) and a BMW X3 (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 142 g/km*) as emergency medical vehicles and a BMW X1 (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 127 g/km*) as a fire command vehicle. The fire-service version of the BMW F 750 GS (standard fuel consumption (WMTC) 4.1 l/100 km; maximum speed 190 km/h) exhibited by BMW Motorrad rounds off the BMW Group's emergency vehicle fleet. The BMW Group will also present the police version of the BMW i8 TUNE IT! SAFE! as a campaign vehicle on the outdoor area of RETTmobil.

Many years of experience and competence in the production of specialised vehicles.

The BMW Group has been active in the demanding segment of specialised vehicles since as early as the 1950s and is thus able to look back on a tradition lasting for more than 65 years now. This is reflected not least in the extensive and diverse range of in-house developed and produced special-purpose vehicles. They are all characterised by innovative and tailor-made solutions and fulfil the highest demands in the areas of performance, functionality, safety and reliability. Specialised vehicles from the BMW Group also convince in terms of efficiency, eco-friendliness and economy – particularly as they are based on series production models from the leading manufacturer of premium automobiles and motorcycles that, by tradition, play an exemplary role in this sector.

In keeping with the significance of the leading trade fair for emergency services and mobility, the BMW Group will be presenting at the RETTmobil 2019 a half a dozen specialised vehicles for various different task areas and purposes. The six exhibits provide visitors with an informative overview of the extensive and diverse range of products offered by the brands BMW, BMW Motorrad and MINI. For more than six decades now, the BMW Group has supported with an ever-increasing number of models and solutions specialists from fire services, accident assistance and technical support services as well as police forces with their demanding tasks and ever-increasing challenges in the areas of rescue, medical aid and safety.

Intelligent. Ahead of the curve. The stealth version of the BMW 3 Series.

In vibrant “Melbourne red metallic”, this vehicle commands attention from afar. In addition to an independent special signalling system, with tone sequence and magnetic flashing light, the vehicle is also equipped with independent front flashers.

The driver and front passenger are accommodated in heated sports seats with lumbar support, which offer maximum comfort and support even on the toughest assignments. To create the optimal working environment, the BMW 320d xDrive Sedan (average fuel consumption of just 4.8 - 4.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres*, CO2 emissions of between 125 - 119 grams per kilometre*) also features comfort and safety-enhancing details such as LED headlights, M leather steering wheel, Driving Assistant, Park Distance Control and the “Professional” business package.

A four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1750 and 2500 rpm is responsible for getting the vehicle to its deployment location quickly. With an average fuel consumption of just 4.8 - 4.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres*, the self-ignition engine operates extremely efficiently, with CO2 emissions of between 125 - 119 grams per kilometre*. Coupled with the Sport Automatic Steptronic transmission and xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system, it takes the BMW 320d xDrive Sedan to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, with a top speed of 233 km/h.

Fast and highly visible: the BMW X3 xDrive20d for emergency medics.

A BMW X3 xDrive20d with signal wrapping in RAL 3026 luminous bright red will also be on display at the BMW Group stand at RETTmobil 2019. The words “emergency medic” on the sides, rear and bonnet clearly indicate the intended use. In addition to the corresponding wrapping, the model presented at the BMW stand also has a special signalling system with yellow turn signals, additional front flashers and alley lights.

The special signalling system mounted on the roof rail, combined with two blue front and rear flashers, captures other road users’ attention whenever emergency medics are deployed. The vehicle also comes pre-installed for digital radio.

Emergency medics can rely on the “Professional” navigation system for the fastest route to their deployment. The four-cylinder turbodiesel with 140 kW/190 hp (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 142 g/km*) is very useful here. Features such as automatic climate control, seat heating and lumbar support for both the driver and front passenger guarantee greater ride comfort.

Highly versatile: BMW 220d xDrive Gran Tourer for emergency medics.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer impresses with its flexibility, spaciousness and range of practical details. Thanks to its raised seating position, large doors and heavy-duty load floor, the dynamic Sports Activity Tourer is perfect for conversion to an emergency medical vehicle. The optical equipment is completed by blue flashers at the front and blue and yellow flashers at the rear, with additional yellow flashers in the boot lid.

In addition to a Sepura digital radio pre-installation and corresponding radio antenna, a 230-volt power socket and two DIN 12V sockets with continuous current, a permanently installed charger for the two vehicle batteries and a steel partition grid meet all the requirements of an emergency medical vehicle.

Modern assistance systems such as the navigation system, Park Distance Control and Head-Up Display provide the driver with the support they need in the field. The BMW 220d xDrive Gran Tourer also has a lot to offer in terms of driving dynamics. Powered by a muscular four-cylinder turbodiesel with 140 kW/190 hp, it delivers a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Power is transmitted automatically via the eight-speed Steptronic – for a fuel consumption of only 4.8 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres* and CO2 emissions of 128 g/km* in this version. The emergency vehicle sprints from zero to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 218 km/h. The vehicle also comes with intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive that delivers driving power safely to the road and can be relied on to make good progress off-road.

When speed is of the essence: BMW X1 xDrive18d for operations command.

The typical qualities of the current BMW X1 include reliability, versatility, efficiency and dynamic performance. This makes the all-rounder highly suitable for a wide range of applications demanding an overall view, speed and manoeuvrability – for example, as command cars for the fire department. Among the most visible features of the BMW X1 xDrive18d on display at RETTmobil 2019 are the eye-catching BMW-design wrapping in RAL 3000, the special signalling system and two blue LED flashers at both the front and rear. A second battery that powers the specific components needed for the deployment and digital radio pre-installation with radio antenna meet the basic requirements for an emergency service command vehicle. A powerful four-cylinder turbodiesel with 110 kW/150 hp and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 127g/km)* guarantees superior handling on both paved and unpaved roads.

i8 TUNE IT! SAFE! police vehicle.

The next level is here: The new campaign vehicle for the TUNE IT! SAFE! initiative for safe tuning is simply electrifying. An athletic front, striking gullwing doors and progressive lines make the BMW i8 Coupé an impressive automobile.

With extensive tuning components from AC Schnitzer, ultra-high-performance tyres from Hankook, a special signalling system from Hella and official wrapping from FOLIATEC.com, the TUNE IT! SAFE! campaign vehicle is most certainly a futuristic eye-catcher. However, the most revolutionary detail lies on the inside. For the fourth consecutive year, the plug-in hybrid drive train in the BMW i8 2018 won its category in the world’s most important engine competition, the “International Engine of the Year Award”. The high-performance electric motor with an output of 105 kW (143 hp) and the powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with 170 kW (231 hp) accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.

In this way, BMW combines extreme lightweight design and the passion of a sports car with the benefits of electromobility; AC Schnitzer then pairs this basis with trendsetting tuning measures.

Fast and agile: the BMW F 750 GS.

The BMW F 750 GS on show at RETTmobil 2019 impressively demonstrates the qualities needed by an official motorcycle.

In addition to its Munich plant’s fire brigade’s wrapping, the motorcycle’s optical equipment includes several flashing LED beacons and a rotating LED beacon, each of which can switch between blue and yellow lights. The entire lighting system and tone sequencer are safely operated by compact, ergonomically optimised controls on the handlebar. The rider sits on a height-adjustable individual seat with a radio box. All devices can be safely stowed inside the seat and are immediately at hand when required. Any other utensils needed on site – such as handheld fire extinguishers – can be kept in two generously-sized saddlebags with ample storage space. Other features include heated grips, hand protection and protective bars.

The “Rain” and “Road” driving modes allowed the motorcycle to adapt to different road conditions. In addition to the standard BMW Motorrad ABS and tilt-optimised ABS Pro with dynamic brake light, two additional driving programmes, “Dynamic” and “Enduro”, are also featured in the F 750 GS on display. The bike is powered by a two-cylinder four-stroke inline engine with 853 cc, an output of 57 kW/77 hp and a maximum torque of 83 Nm. Standard fuel consumption (WMTC) is 4.1 l/100 km, with a top speed of 190 km/h.
